The Parables of Jesus

Jesus often taught with short stories from farms, homes and markets. We will read his best known parables and ask what each one shows about God's kingdom and about us.

A parable (parabolē) sets one thing beside another. Interpreters once allegorized every detail; since Adolf Jülicher (1888) many stress one main point, though most now allow some allegorical features where Jesus himself explains them.
